Personal information relates to an identifiable, living, natural person, and where applicable, an identifiable, existing juristic person (such as a company), including, but not limited to information concerning: race, gender, sex, pregnancy, marital status, national or ethnic origin, colour, sexual orientation, age, physical or mental health, disability, religion, conscience, belief, culture, language and birth of a person; information relating to the education or the medical, financial, criminal or employment history of the person; any identifying number, symbol, email address, physical address, telephone number, location information, online identifier or other particular assignment to the person; the biometric information of the person; the personal opinions, view or preferences of the person; correspondence sent by the person that is implicitly or explicitly of a private or confidential nature or further correspondence that would reveal the contents of the original correspondence; the views or opinions of another individual about the person; the name of the person if it appears with other personal information relating to the person or if the disclosure of the name itself would reveal information about the person.

The act of processing information includes any activity or any set of operations, whether or not by automatic means, concerning personal information and includes: the collection, receipt, recording, organization, collation, storage, updating or modification, retrieval, alteration, consultation or use; dissemination by means of transmission, distribution or making available in any other form; or merging, linking, as well as any restriction, degradation, erasure or destruction of information.

  • Affiliates, holding and subsidiary companies , as well as business partners of Ignite

Sharing personal information with 3rd parties and recipients:

Ignite may share personal information with recipients and third parties in order to give effect to the purpose stated above.

The recipients and third parties must take precautions to ensure that as the recipients of your personal information they will treat your personal information confidentially and with the required security measures and protocols.

Personal information may be hosted on servers and processed by recipients and third parties, which may be located outside of South Africa.

Ignite will only process personal information that it requires to give effect to the purpose of collection and further compatible purposes and in the course of Ignite’s business.

The personal information that we are processing is required in order to enable Ignite to give effect to the purpose stated herein. The failure to furnish the requested personal information may result in a transaction with Ignite being terminated or no agreement being concluded.

  1. Right to Access

A data subject can request access to the personal information that Ignite holds about them at any time and if you think that we have outdated information, please request us to update or correct it. Please contact Ignite’s Information Officer.

  1. Right to Rectify

A data subject has the right to request that their personal information must be corrected or deleted where Ignite is no longer authorized to retain the personal information.

  1. Right to Complain

If Ignite is unable to resolve your complaint to your satisfaction, you have the right to complaint to the Information Regulator.

  1. Right to Object

A data subject has on reasonable grounds the right to object to the processing of their personal information. In such circumstances, Ignite will give due consideration to the request and the requirements of POPIA.

Ignite may cease to use or disclose personal information and, subject to any statutory and contractual record keeping requirements, also destroy the personal information.

  1. Security Measures

Ignite endeavours to protect the personal information that it processes. The security measures that are put in place are to ensure that no person or unauthorized personnel accesses your personal information. The control measures include data protection, confidentiality of accessing personal information, IT controls etc.
